EarthServer TV Documentary is in 2nd place of the International Science Film Festival


The 1h TV documentation Big Earth Data - the digitized planet produced as part of the EarthServer project in cooperation with the german broadcast ZDF/ARTE is in 2nd place of the ​International Scientific Film Festival in Szolnok, Hungary. The documentary which has been funded by the European Commission and broadcasted in February 2015 is concerned with the chances and challenges dealing with Big Earth Data.

EarthServer-2 develops plans for better access to Big Earth Data

2. project meeting starts successfully in Reading , UK

ECMWF hosted the second EarthServer-2 project meeting on 8 and 9 October 2015. Funded by the EU’s Horizon 2020 programme, EarthServer-2 aims to offer improved access to Big Earth Data through established web service standards of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC).

ESAC Planetary GIS Workshop 2015


Over 80 participants from over 40 institutions in 12 countries (including USA, Russia and China) joined the workshop, mainly from the surface-science sub-community (geology, geography and cartography), the atmospheric-science community, and from magnetospheric and plasma physics.
